Brookwood Collies Purchase INformation

  • APPLICATION: To begin the process of getting a Collie from us, please submit an application. CLICK FOR APPLICATION


  • PRICE: Our Puppy price is $3000+tax for Rough sable and tri-color puppies. Rough Blue merles are $4000+tax because they are more rare and we don't often have them.  Smooth pups are priced around $2500+tax.  All prices are subject to 6% PA sales tax. 


  • DEPOSITS: If we do not have the puppy your are looking for available now, you are welcome to get on our waiting list for a future litter. We ask a $200 non-refundable deposit to get you on our waiting list. Deposits are honored in the order they are received. Brookwood Collies does reserve the right to first pick of any litter regardless of deposits. 


  • CHOOSING YOUR PUP: If you have a deposit on one of our litters, you can expect to choose your puppy when he or she is around 6.5-8 weeks old. Age for choosing your puppy will vary with the individual litter. 


  • PAYMENTS: Final payment, minus your previous deposit(s), will be due before the puppy leaves our house, including puppies who are transported with a nanny to their new home.  All payments are accepted thru gooddog.pay. This is a secure payment platform developed for breeders and puppy buyers to help eliminate fraudulent puppy scam payments. On this payment platform you can pay with your credit card (with a 3% fee) or make a no fee ACH payment. The protection & Support fee may be accepted or declined.  


  • At this time, we do not offer payment plans for after the puppy purchase. However, you are welcome to begin sending payments for a future puppy if that works best for you.

    I usually tell folks to brush your pup a little every day or else give him a real thorough grooming once a week. I don't recommend bathing your Collie often, we usually bath our Collies about 3-4 times a year. If a "dry cleaning" is necessary, rub some cornstarch into the dirty places of your pup's coat after misting the area with water. Let the corn starch sit in the fur about 20 minutes and then brush the cornstarch out. This will make the coat clean and bright white! For puppy coats, I like to use a slicker brush. For adult coats, I like to use a slicker brush first and then  finish up with a comb. 

    We start the pups out with Royal Canin's Puppy Starter, a special formula for tiny, developing puppy stomachs. Around 7 weeks old, we transition the pups to a large breed puppy formula. We feed our puppies age 2-12 months either of these foods:

    Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy Formula 

    or Nutri-Source Large Breed Puppy Formula. 

    If is very important to make sure you are feeding a 'Large Breed Puppy Formula'. Regular puppy foods often have too high of fat in the food. Too much fat causes growth problems in large breed puppies. If you have questions about puppy food, please contact us.

    Our Collie females are 50-60 pounds and our male Collies are around 58-65 pounds.

     With every puppy we sell, we offer a short term health guarantee and a 2 Year Genetic Health Guarantee. We ask that you take your puppy to your vet within 14 days of purchase  for 2 reasons: 1.) to establish care with your veterinarian and 2.) to verify that you received your puppy in a 'fit for sale' condition. We do not guarantee our puppies against parasites or Giardia since puppies can pick both up very easily.  

    Often, the answer to this question is no. There is no need for an ophthalmologist to examine a normal eyed Collie puppy since the reason this exam is often done is to make sure the pup is normal eyed or to check for Collie Eye Anomaly. Since our Collies do not carry Collie Eye Anomaly there is no reason to take them to an ophthalmologist. If I have any concerns about a pup's eyes, I will schedule an exam with an ophthalmologist who has an office 2 hours south of my house.

    SMooth Collies at Brookwood

    When I started breeding Collies I was told, "A Rough Collie has a smooth personality and a Smooth Collie has a rough personality". Of course, I was very curious about the other variety in the breed and wondered why the temperament would be different on a smooth Collie than a rough Collie if their were many rough Collies in a smooth Collie's pedigree?!! 


    In the fall of 2020, I was privileged to purchase our first smooth, a beautiful tri-colored smooth Collie puppy from Martha Patterson-Avery of East View Collies. We are thrilled that Lacey has a beautiful, loving personality. We could not be more happy with her! 


    I no longer believe that Rough and Smooth Collies have different personalities based on the length of their coat. I do believe that for both smooth and rough Collies, temperament is largely based on the Collies in our puppies' pedigrees. 


    While the shedding of rough and smooth collies is similar, the main difference is in the length of the hair! With the smooth Collies, grooming is so much easier because their hair is so short. Give your smooth Collie a bath, and she'll be dry in an hour! 


    We are pleased to offer smooth Collies with super personalities! We now have 3 smooth Collie females and look forward to future litters of smooth pups. Our prices for smooth pups is around $1800-2000+tax.

      Brookwood Collies export to europe and other countries

      Since 2018, we have exported 12 Collies to other countries, most of them to Germany. If you live outside the United States and would like to get a Collie from us, we are willing to help you with the process if the following conditions are met: 


      • If your puppy must stay with us until he or she is 21 days past the rabies vaccination, we will charge an  $800 USD boarding fee.
      • A deposit of $1500 USD is required to reserve your puppy. The final balance of the puppy price plus the boarding fee and any other fees will be due 10 days before the scheduled  export.
      • Additional fees will include veterinary fees, requested health testing, and travel crate and accessories. Please ask for a total cost estimate. 
      • International payments may be made thru Wise.com, formerly Transferwise. See the link below to sign up with Wise.com. 
      • An IPATA professional shipper will be hired to manage the export, legal paperwork, and flight details. We have used Fur & Feathers Express and Capitol Pet Movers in the past. See the links below to request an estimate of shipping costs for you. 
      • Check out your country's import fees and taxing on imported dogs.
